Air France crew strike announced
March 17, 2010

AIR France cabin crew have called a four-day strike from March 28 to 31.

Six trade unions are supporting the walk-out to protest against changes to working conditions on short and medium-haul flights over the summer tourist season.

The new European summer timetable comes into force on April 1 and, according to the unions, will see some planes fly with a reduced number of stewards on-board.

Air France announced plans in February to cut the equivalent of 750 full-time jobs by the end of 2011 and reduce the frequency of some links from Paris to French regional airports.

The strike clashes with industrial action by British Airways cabin crew.

Unite, the trade union that represents the majority of BA stewards, is planning strike action on March 20-22 and March 27-30.
