VOLUNTEERS and donations are needed for what claims to be France’s first British-style charity shop, opening soon in Marseille.
The shop is the brainchild of Janice Phillips, a local resident who noticed the traditional UK high street feature was nowhere to be seen on this side of Channel.
Ms Phillips hopes the shop, which will raise funds for the French Red Cross, will be fully up-and-running this month, in time for Christmas.
“I am desperately looking for volunteers in and around Marseille. We need at least six or more per day for sorting and traitement,” she said.
“I am busy collecting promises of donations to collect as soon as I can start moving in and have nabbed my share of an official vehicle” she added.
