Easyjet pilots to strike next week

French-based pilots plan walkout over the Assumption bank holiday weekend, August 15-19

EASYJET pilots in France have announced they are planning to strike for three days next week, potentially affecting travel over the Assumption bank holiday weekend.

The industrial action over pay, the first of its kind at Easyjet, will only affect French-based crews - potentially up to 250 staff - and not all flights to and from France will be affected.

The provisional dates are August 15, 17 and 19 - the first is the Assumption bank holiday and many workers take the rest of the week off to make a long weekend.

Easyjet said in a statement: "Discussions are continuing between easyJet and representatives from SNPL [union] to reach an agreement. If an agreement is not sought, operational plans will be drawn up.

"We apologise for any inconvenience that this causes and will seek to minimise disruption while keeping customers fully informed."

Updates will be posted online at Easyjet.com. The airline recommended that passengers due to fly check the site on Monday to see what the latest was.
