PUMPKIN-GROWERS from across the Pays de la Loire will descend on a traditional pub in the Mayenne on October 3 to do battle.

The biggest pumpkin competition takes place in the Homme Vert in the village of Saint-Pierre sur Orthe, about 40km outside Le Mans.

The grand weigh-in is at 16.00.
