A WOMAN in the east of France has married her boyfriend of six years -- a year after he died.
Magali Jaskiewicz and Jonathan George had set a date for their wedding with their local mairie just two days before he was killed in a scooter accident in November 2008.
Some 30 people gathered for the ceremony in the small village of Dommary-Baroncourt in the Meuse on Saturday.
The French code civil allows posthumous marriages if all the formalities for the wedding were completed before one of the partners died, including a date being set.
Ms Jaskiewicz told Le Republicain Lorrain that she had proved that they had been living together since 2005 and that they shared a bank account.
She also provided a photo of the wedding dress they had already bought to support her case.
