A SECURITY van driver who stole €11.6m in cash from the Banque de France has turned himself in to police in Monaco after 11 days on the run.

An international search operation was launched for Toni Musulin, who managed to drive off with a van full of banknotes during a routine collection in Lyon on November 5.

Police found his emptied van after a few hours, and discovered €9m a few days later in a lock-up garage he had rented under a fake name.

Mr Musulin surrendered to police in Monaco yesterday lunchtime and was handed over to France later in the day.

It is not clear why he was in the country, or what has happened to the remaining €2.6m that he stole in broad daylight.

Mr Musulin had worked for Loomis, a security firm contracted by the Banque de France, for about 20 years. He lived alone and had emptied his flat and cleared his bank account days before the getaway.

If found guilty, he faces up to three years in jail.
