Keeping mobile number is a right

Did you know that keeping your old mobile number is a right if you change operator?

DID you know that keeping your old mobile number is a right if you change operator?

It is called “la portabilité du numéro.”

The new operator should organise it free of charge and the act of asking them to do it (by recorded delivery - lettre recommandée avec avis de réception) legally cancels the old contract.

There is a statutory 10-day notice period for the old operator to arrange the transfer.

However if you have an existing phone contract as opposed to buying top-ups, it will mention a minimum engagement period, which needs to have expired if you want to transfer the number.
