Mairie wants path through property

Our mairie wants to put rights of way for cyclists and walkers through our property

OUR mairie wants to put rights of way for cyclists and walkers through our private co-ownership property as part of the new local development plan. Are they allowed to do this? M.S.

Notaire François Trémosa of the Groupe Monassier in Toulouse said that, in such a case, you should participate in any public inquiry held in connection with the plan and express opposition.

Ideally, you and your neighbours could propose an alternative solution to the mairie. He said however that, unfortunately, the mairie does have the power to impose such a scheme.
