Marriage plans are met with a laugh at Hollywood couple's south of France "home town" of Correns

WHILE Hollywood was abuzz with the news that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are to get married it brought little reaction in the couple's French "home town" of Correns in the Var.

Mayor Michaël Latz was not at the mairie this morning but staff there knew nothing of the wedding - or if it would be held in Correns.

At the local alimentation, Marie-Ange Proxi, there was just a laugh. No one had ordered any flowers "and if they had I wouldn't tell you. But congratulations to them if it's true."

The local winemakers' cooperative, Les Vignerons de Correns, said they knew nothing about it, but added: "We would like to pass on our most sincere congratulations and best wishes for the future."

Brangelina own the Château de Miraval in the commune and there have been rumours that they were keen to tie the knot in the 16th century chapel there.

Any official marriage ceremony in France would have to be carried out at the mairie.

There has been much speculation of a marriage in previous years since the couple met on the set of "Mr & Mrs Smith" in 2005.

However, Brad's agent, Cynthia Pett-Dante, said in a statement: “Yes, it’s confirmed. It is a promise for the future, and their kids are very happy. There’s no date set at this time.”

The couple have six children, including three adopted. Two of the children, twins, were born in hospital in Nice.
