Online bac exam results delayed

Strike by IT workers means students in 13 areas will have to wait until this afternoon to see if they passed

BACCALAUREAT students are facing a nerve-wracking wait for their results to be published online this morning due to a strike by school IT staff.

About 80% of workers responsible for publishing the results online are on strike at 13 education authorities: Aix-Marseille, Bordeaux, Nice, Nancy, Rouen, Rennes, Reims, Nantes, Poitiers, Lyon, Strasbourg, Clermont-Ferrand and Besançon.

In many areas, the results will not be available online until at least 14.00 - while the printed lists outside exam centres came out on time at 8.00.

The results should be available on www.education.gouv.fr and a number of newspaper websites this morning, but they are likely to be incomplete at first.

The IT staff, who are protesting against job cuts and reorganisations, are responsible for maintaining school websites, processing exam results and other administrative tasks such as overseeing teacher pay.
