RER strike for Paris on Friday

Two million travellers hit as unions stage 24-hour walk-out on train services

SERVICES on the RER A and B will be practically non-existent this Friday, according to a union spokesman.

Four unions, the CGT, FO, SUD and Unsa, will stage a one-day strike from 4.45am Friday until 1.30am Saturday.

The two RER A and B lines normally carry almost two million people a day and a spokesman for Unsa said they will have little to no service throughout Friday.
Workers are protesting at conditions on the lines which they say are over-capacity.

The RATP, which runs the Metro lines and buses in the capital, said their services would be operating as normal.
