Train firm sells its old seats

You can now buy your own train seat on eBay – if you can work out what to do with it

CROSS-BORDER train company Thalys is auctioning off the contents of its trains from seats to bins.

The online eBay sale , is designed to draw attention to the renovation of its stock and is, according to the firm a chance to own a “true collector’s item.”

All profits are going to Unicef to support its Wash programme to improve access to safe drinking water.

On going to press, seats were up to €261 while cheaper bets included bins and head rests at around €10.

The firm is selling 120 items between now and September 18.

Thalys is majority-owned by the SNCF and the rest by the Belgian and German national operators. It runs trains between France, Belgium, Germany and Holland.
