Homeless 38-year-old man arrested shortly after incident at station on Paris Metro

A WOMAN was pushed on to the tracks of the Metro in Paris as she waited for a train to arrive.

The 36-year-old Alfortville resident was waiting for the train at the Edgar Quinet station, in the 14th Arrondissement on Tuesday evening when, police said, she was violently shoved on to the tracks as a train entered the station on the opposite platform, Le Parisien reported.

Helped by other travellers, she scrambled back on the platform and the alarm was raised. Police said the victim was not injured by was very shocked.

A homeless man, aged 38, was arrested shortly after the incident, police have said.

In 2011, an architect was pushed in front of a train on the Metro.
