A new kind of worship

After reading your (online) article Christmas is for… family or gifts? I felt compelled to write that Britain is now such a diverse ethnic and multi-cultural society that Christmas is losing its religious reason and is more of an excuse for what you pointed out – consumerism.

Local councils are reluctant to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas and not to offend any religious group by using the term “Seasons Greetings”.

They do though appreciate the need to decorate high streets to make them more appealing for shoppers, so careful choices are made for decorations.

It is very sad, especially as I teach in a Catholic School.
