Music notes

I had to deal with Sacem (France’s public performance royalties collector, February edition) when I had a business.

I completed one of their very long forms and it asked for the numbers of people within earshot at any one time.

I submitted numbers of about 40 people constantly seven days a week and the bill was under €300 per year. So, if it is on a sliding scale I imagine the fee for two people in a gîte would hardly be worth collecting. I notice from the wording of the article that guests appear to have to pay to listen to their own music.
