Tale of bravery

I read with interest the article about village Resistance fighters capturing 1,000 Nazis (see August issue).

There is already a French novel – Tous soleils bus, by Cévenol author Daniel Hébrard – which tells the story of a Spanish farmer who fights against Franco, crosses the border to France and spends time in the shameful conditions of the French camps before joining the Resistance in the Cévennes. The author describes the same event – how a small band of men held up and captured 1,000 Germans.

The book is a fascinating, passionate read.
