English spoken in hospitals

RE: English spoken in hospitals.

The CHU (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire) in Clermont-Ferrand and reception at Issoire Hospital A&E, plus all other hospitals and clinics in Puy de Dôme that my wife and I have been treated by – as a result of complications caused from the reaction to a knee replacement and broken limbs – during the past five years have ALL, without exception, put themselves out to help, explained procedures and treatments in English and every effort was made to ensure that we understood.

Every part of any treatment or aftercare we have received has always been given with utmost care, attention and patience. Even when written communication has been necessary, frequently emails were sent in English.Whatever level, from the chief Surgeon to cleaner, all hospital personnel made every effort to communicate in English to some level.

Bruce STUART, Puy-de-Dôme

I am a regular patient for cancer treatment and all the details of radiotherapy, chemotherapy, diets etc were passed to me in English which was superb and easy to understand.
This was at Girac Hospital in Angoulême, where there is a permanent nurse for cancer patients and their families who speaks perfect English and is available at any time.
A wonderful hospital that caters for many English patients!
