No fuss over bringing pets

20 January 2017

Lest your readers get the impression that bringing pets to Europe is always either difficult or expensive, or both, perhaps our experience will go some way to allay such fears.

As soon as we knew that we would be emigrating to France, my daughter set about obtaining the paperwork for our four pets: about £200 each.

Come ‘the day’, our three dogs climbed into the car with the cat. They all knew their places and settled down for the short drive to Folkestone.

As frequent users of Eurotunnel we expected to be stopped. However, we were waved through without a question asked. And that was that. We drove off the Eurotunnel in Calais onto the autoroute south. After a night with relatives in Normandy, we delivered our pets to their new French home.
