Blithe Spirit - The Vagabond Theatre Company

Set in an English country house in the 1930's Blithe Spirit tells of the troubles of writer Charles Condomine and his second wife Ruth. One evening Charles invites the flamboyantly eccentric clairvoyant Madame Arcati to conduct a seance, purely to research material for a mystery novel, only for Arcati to unwittingly conjure up the ghost of the first Mrs Condomine, the flighty and wilful Elvira. Inaudible and invisible to everyone except Charles and the audience, Elvira proceeds to wreak havoc in the happy home. There are now three people in this marriage, a recipe for murderous matrimonial mayhem. Performances at 17.30 on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 July, so that you can eat out afterwards. Also a Sunday matinee at 15.30 to enable a leisurely lunch beforehand. Kids and students get in free. E10 pp. Pay on arrival but reservations advisable, just contact floyd.lucy@gmail.com. The Salle de la Comedie is air conditioned with raked upholstered seating and amplified sound, near all the local bars and restaurants.
