Evening guided walk through delightful historic village

The First Duke of Lauzun was a favourite of Louis XIV, the Sun King; a later Duke raised an army to help the US in their struggle for Independence against the Brits! Our walk starts in the grounds of their 11/13C Chateau... it continues through the medieval streets with their colombage houses, via the feudal mound (lit with flambeaux), the site of the first village dwellings, and then past the lake alight with floating candles, to finish up in the 13C church with a fabulous carved altarpiece, created in the 17C for the Recollet monks. This is followed by a Son et Lumiere display on the chateau walls, followed by a meal in the village hall. There will be strolling musicians to entertain you on the way, and a free English route map with information about the history of the buildings will be provided. A fabulous and memorable evening - and all for free! These walks are very popular, so be sure to arrive in good time - there is ample parking around the village hall (Salle Polyvalente) which will be well signposted. Don't forget to wear sensible shoes, and bring your couverts and a torch! For more information contact the Tourist Office: tourisme.lauzun@paysdelauzun.com or marion.sell@wanadoo.fr
