The American Women's Group of Languedoc-Roussillon is an international group of women with an American majority, all seeking the same outcomes - friendship, good company, stimulating group activitives/events and occasionally raising funds for causes close to our hearts.
Members include women who have lived in France for 25 years of more as well as women who have only just arrived. Membership is made up of 60% American and 40% English-speaking women. The AWG
We come together to share our passions, like reading and writing; cooking and wine tasting; donating and volunteering; assisting and mentoring in order to work towards a common goal: to enjoy our lives together.
AWG is a member of FAWCO (Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas) which supports numerous scholarship and other philanthropic activities throughout the world. Our fundraising activities are divided between international projects, mostly under FAWCO's auspices, and local charities.
Most importantly, we make fundraising fun! Dinners are organized in members' homes; we respond to major disasters with special fundraising events; or we produce a cookbook, as we have in 2014, called Season. The proceeds of this cookbook will benefit Restos Bebes du Coeur in Montpellier; the Jeevika Trust in India (a charity that assists women in the poorest villages to be self-sufficient); andthe FAWCO Foundation.
If you are English-speaking and would like to be part of the AWG, please do not hesitate to contact us.
