An ensemble of experienced singers with a repertoire of music ranging from the 13th to the 20th century, with particular emphasis on the English and Italian Renaissance (Byrd, Tallis, Gibbons, Tomkins, Palestrina, Victoria, Gesualdo), Purcell, Haendel, the Victorians and 20th century (Stanford, Vaughan Williams, Britten, Tavener).
In addition to concerts that take place mainly in the autumn and winter months, the Wells Consort can also participate in ceremonies, weddings, funerals, concerts of secular music in stately homes, etc.
Candidates in all voices are always welcome.
We are looking for good amateurs with voices that adapt to the rest of the ensemble, who can sing in tune and sight read sufficiently to hold a line in works that are mainly polyphonic and acappella. You don't need to be fluent in English.
