All aboard the bus with British Embassy

The embassy ran a similar bus tour last year - pictured here in La Rochelle

Quidditch lessons, British teatime, live music and a tattoo bar will be among attractions at a British Embassy bus tour which coincides with several new Brexit outreach meetings.

A London double-decker will be making its way around the towns of the south from July 10 in Perpignan to July 16 in Nice, as part of Les Voisins on Tour aimed partly at bringing a taste of Britain to the French (however it is also a chance for Britons to meet their embassy).

The tour also coincides with a programme of new British embassy outreach events for the British community, with a chance to ask questions about Brexit preparations – part of a series of dozens of such events that the embassy has held around the country since the Brexit vote.

The embassy is also preparing another Facebook question and answer session next week – people can visit its Facebook page from 10.00 to noon on Monday to post questions, which will be answered in writing by the embassy team later in the week.

An embassy spokeswoman said the bus tour follows on from a similar event last year, which aimed at “building our regional links with the cities”.

She added: “We are adding on outreach at the same time – of course there are lots of Britons in cities and we always try to go to more of them, and especially new ones we’ve not managed to go to before.”

She said they have tried to cover the territory of France as widely as possibly with the meetings and will be holding more later in the year.

The embassy is interested to hear from people with suggestions for new towns to visit, especially if there is a suitable venue which could be used and which can seat 200 people or more (email
