Connexion joins MEP taskforce for Brussels event

Brexit has wide-ranging implications for Brits in other EU countries

CONNEXION will be in Brussels next week to discuss issues facing Britons in the EU because of Brexit.

We have been invited to take part in an event organised by the Brussels and Europe branch of the Liberal Democrats (BELD) and the EU Citizens Taskforce, a group of MEPs concerned about the rights of other EU citizens in the UK and of Britons living in the EU.

‘Brexit & Brits in the EU 27: what does it mean for you?’ will include questions and answers with a panel of MEPs and people representing Britons and other EU citizens, including a Connexion journalist. Those interested can attend in person or send questions and testimonies via Twitter using the #RightToStay hashtag. The event will also be live on the internet at the Facebook page Brits Abroad: ‘Yes to Europe’.

It is from 19.00 to around 21.00 on the evening of Wednesday May 10. Further practical details: at this link.

The event will be on the night before a key hearing in the European Parliament which will also raise the expat rights issue, including problems that people have faced in obtaining nationality in the UK or their European countries of residence, or permanent residence cards.

The event is a chance to hear the European Parliament’s current thinking and put questions and concerns directly to MEPs.

If you wish to draw any specific issues to Connexion’s attention beforehand – and you have not already emailed us about them – you can contact us at including the words ‘Brussels event’ in your email title.
