Rejoin activists take Valentine card to EU

A British pro-EU group visited Strasbourg on February 14 to deliver a Valentine’s Day card signed by more than 1,000 people in the UK.

The EU Flag Mafia group, supported by other pro-EU grassroots bodies, collected physical and digital signatures.

They were put on to 12 print-outs of the card and delivered to German MEP Terry Reintke, who created the European Parliament’s new EU-UK Friendship Group.

It said: “Roses are red, violets are blue, we have nothing but love for EU - We will be back.”

Ms Reintke said: “I am delighted to keep exchanging these messages of friendship and affection, even after the Brexit day. We will continue to build bridges.”

The friendship group’s first action of singing Auld Lang Syne after the vote to ratify the WA deal was a great success, with almost all MEPs standing up and joining in.
