Clean-up days at popular French mountain resorts

Ecoles du Ski Francais members and other volunteers taking part in clean-up days

Volunteers will be scouring the mountains of Alpine and Pyrenean ski resorts over the next month in search of litter left behind by holidaymakers during the ski season.

Some two tonnes of litter was picked up during a sinle collection, at Haute-Savoie resort La Clusaz, on May 8.

And now, seven more litter-picking days have been organised by members of the Ecole du Ski Francais (ESF) at resorts in the Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Isère, Hautes-Alpes, and Hautes-Pyrénées.

The clean-ups will take place at:

  • SAVOIE: Ste Foy, May 20; Les Aillons, May 21
  • ISERE: Alpe D'Huez, May 24; Chamrousse, June 8
  • HAUTES-ALPES: Serre Chevalier Briançon, June 1
  • HAUTE-SAVOIE: Châtel, June 10
  • HAUTES-PYRENEES: Peyresourde, June 24

The events are supported by L'Association Vacances Propres, which works with about 1,000 local authorities to ensure popular resorts are clean and as litter-free as possible. Volunteers are welcome to join in the event. Contact local ESF organisations for more details.
