Deadline looms for paper tax forms

A reminder that the deadline for submitting paper French income tax form is this Wednesday, May 17, at midnight.

Paper declarations must be made by all first-time declarers. The deadline of May 17 also holds for anyone declaring by paper form as a non-resident.

The deadline for paper forms applies across the country but the deadlines for people declaring online vary by department and give extra time.

Anyone not making a declaration on time faces a 10% penalty with interest of 0.4% a month also being due.

Online declarations are obligatory for anyone whose 2015 revenu fiscal de référence (net taxable income, as shown on the income tax assessment) was more than €28,000. You can find the online declaration dates here.

If you need help with filling out the tax form/s, our guide can help. The Connexion's 2017 income tax helpguide is especially written for Britons living in France or those with second homes here which are rented out. The guide is available as a printed or download version and details information needed to make your declaration. It shows how to declare your income such as pensions, rent, ISAs, shares, savings and interest.

The 2017 French Tax Forms guide is available as a download for €12.50 and printed copies can be sent out for €12.50 (plus P&P). Find out more about the guide and order it here.
