Farmers offer free combine harvester trips

Website reveals locations of farmers willing to let visitors ride in cab at harvest time

Have you ever wanted to get in the cab of a working combine harvester at harvest time? Now you can, thanks to a new website.

The website moissonneuse.fr is the brainchild of former banker-turned-cereal farmer David Forge, whose Youtube channel La Chaîne Agricole is something of a minor hit.

Mr Forge, who turned to farming in Indre-et-Loire in 2014 said that he wanted "to create links and give people the means to form their own idea of the profession", and he hoped it would help improve relations between "society and the farmer".

The site includes a directory of registered farmers, who post information about when they plan to harvest their crops. Users can then contact the farmers individually to arrange a free combine harvester trip.

He developed the website after seeing several farmers post messages on Twitter offering free combine harvester rides to nearby residents.

Mr Forge said that he cannot offer any more combine harvester rides himself, as he has been inundated with requests.
