Fuel driver strike called off

It will take several days for normal service to resume

AROUND 800 service stations are still affected by fuel shortages this morning – though the tanker drivers' strike has now been lifted and normal service is slowly being resumed.

Affected sites had reached 1,000 yesterday, but tanker drivers have now gone back to work after the CGT Transports union called off the strike that started a week ago.

However it could take several days before all the service stations are supplied with fuel again.

The union decided to end the strike after a meeting at the Transport Ministry at which a new calendar of discussions on pay and working conditions was agreed.
