Google to lay subsea cable to French coast

Google is to lay a submarine transatlantic cable to add capacity on one of the internet’s busiest routes and give high- bandwidth, secure connections between the US and Europe.

Laid from Virginia to the French Atlantic coast, the private service will open in 2020. It is named after Henri Dunant, founder of the Red Cross.
