Tens of thousands sign petition against Linky costs

More than 160,000 people have given their signatures

The consumer group’s petition is aimed against higher electricity bills linked to the fitting of Linky smart meters. Petitioners said they would refuse to pay unless tariffs were renegotiated down.

Power grid operator Ene­dis has denied a claim by consumer champion UFC Que Choisir that it will get a €500 million straight profit through an accounting trick where householders pay an extra €15 a year for 10 years.
