Two missing 16-year-old girls from Lyon found safe

The two 16-year-olds had been missing for a week, but have now been confirmed as found safe and well

Two 16-year-old lycée students from near Lyon that had been “worryingly” missing for a week have been found “safe and well”.

Laure Gorand and Carla Macari had been missing since the beginning of February, with police deeming their disappearance as “worrying” since Monday February 4.

The girls were seen at school - the La Favorite lycée in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon - the morning of February 4, but disappeared and stopped giving “any signs of life” since around 15h the same day.

Police launched a witness appeal, circulating photos of the two girls, and saying: “Nothing makes us think that this could be a runaway case."

Yet, it appears that the two young girls had in fact deliberately run away.

They were found on Sunday night in the Part-Dieu neighborhood of the city, police have confirmed.

Both were deemed “safe and well” and returned to their respective parents soon after they were found.
