Hospital in call for stool donations

Medics willing to pay for volunteers 'efforts'

A hospital in Paris is willing to pay €50 to anyone who can provide it with some very particular donations.

Doctors at the Centre de recherche clinique de l'est parisien at l'hôpital Saint-Antoine, in the 12th arrondissement, are conducting a study into the bowel disease hemorrhagic rectocolitis.

They looking for volunteers aged between 18 and 49 years old, who are in good health and registered with the French social security system, to donate one or more faeces samples to study the effectiveness of fecal microbiota transplantation in treating the disease.

Donors will be paid €50 for each sample, the hospital said.
