Surveys show weddings have an average of 70 guests and with the updated law there are now opportunities to use alternative halls – with the mayor or other officer attending – as long as the procureur has no objection.
Previously, weddings could only be held in the mairie, unless there was a serious problem or one of the spouses was too near to death to move.

MAIRIES can give dispensation for wedding services to be held in one of the commune’s larger halls if there is too little space in the mairie offices or there is no disabled access.
