There are two levels of financial support that you can apply for: local and national. At local level, there are various conditions that apply but most require you to be a resident of that area. These subsidies can be as much as €500 in places such as Ile de France.

A detailed breakdown can be found at tinyurl.com/y5uqjnw9, which explains where you can apply for the subsidy – often possible online. Once you receive a subsidy at local level, you may also be eligible for one at national level.

The national level tops up your local subsidy to €200 but it cannot exceed the amount you received at local level. In order to benefit, you must meet certain criteria, which include having a par revenu fiscal de référence part equal to or less than €13,489. There are also rules about the bike you buy. You can receive the subsidy only once. Find out more at tinyurl.com/y5xlbygq.
