Annual French tax declarations continue: Here's why?

A wide-ranging tax-at-source system was launched in January 2019 – commonly known as PAS (Prélèvement à la Source).

However, France has ended up with a hybrid between taxation at source and its previous tax mechanisms. The latter includes taxation of the household unit, with reductions depending on family size, and niches fiscales, ways of investing and spending which allow reductions to declarable income or deductions from their tax bill.
