Estate agent wins fee case

Estate agents are entitled to their fees once a sale agreement is signed, a court has ruled.

The Cour de Cassation overturned an earlier ruling when it said a purchaser’s decision not to go ahead with the deal after the 10-day withdrawal period should have no bearing on whether the agent, through which the initial agreement was signed, should be paid.

The buyer had argued that the agent should not be paid as the sale was not concluded.
