Sign up to check your power usage

People with Linky or Gazpar ‘smart’ meters for electricity or gas can now sign-in online to dedicated sites to get details of usage, set usage alerts or check their usage matches their tariff.

The sites – different for electricity and gas – are run by the national energy distributors Enedis (ex-ERDF) and GRDF. Users must set up a personal space at enedis.fr or grdf.fr

The meters, which do not allow users to exceed usage limits and can be cut off instantly, have also been criticised for ‘snooping’ on users’ daily habits.

The energy mediator has also doubted the Linky meter’s benefits for the consumer – saying just 2% of people have set up a personal space due to delays in meter links becoming active. More than 300 communes have already refused to allow Linky meters to be fitted.
