Pay Paris Metro by smartphone

Paying the metro, RER or bus by smartphone will be a reality in Ile-de-France from this autumn as transport bosses experiment with paperless tickets.

With five million paper tickets checked each year, RATP, SNCF and Ile-de-France Mobilités want to move to using a smartphone version of the Pass Navigo, downloading a ‘carnet’ of tickets when needed and using the phone on the ticket machine (borne).

The aim is to have the system open to all users by summer 2019.
