Can French taxi drivers refuse card payments?

Can a taxi refuse a payment by bank card? One recently insisted on taking me to a bank machine to take out cash. A.D.

No. Taxis must, by an article of the Code des Transports law added at the end of 2016, accept payment by bank card, whatever the price of the journey.
