Doctors call day of protests

Some GPs' surgeries could be shut today as the MG-France union calls for protests to mark start of talks with government

SOME doctors' surgeries could be closed today as GPs' union MG-France has called for a day of protest to mark the start of talks with the government.

The union has called for concrete measures to stop 'medical deserts'; areas of France seeing fewer and fewer doctors, and to recruit more young people into general medicine.

Along with the closure of some surgeries, union members are organising protest marches, press conferences and public meetings.
