Glitch turns France’s Tous Anti Covid app (temporarily) English

A technical problem hit the latest update of the country’s test and trace phone application resulting in users taking to social media to complain

Users of France’s track and trace application Tous Anti Covid were surprised this morning (May 25) to find that the app’s language had changed suddenly to English.

Tous Anti Covid has now rectified the issue, stating that it was a technical problem affecting users with the latest update.

The Tous Anti Covid application’s default language usually depends on the language your phone is set to. If your phone is in French, the application will open in French. If it is set to another language, the application will normally open by default in English.

The application will be integral to the roll out in France of EU-wide Covid travel certificates, set to come into effect from July 1.

The system will facilitate travel within the EU by granting certificates to people who have been vaccinated against Covid-19, had a recent PCR test, or can show immunity to Covid-19 (a positive test result from two weeks to six months prior).

These certificates will be stored on the Tous Anti Covid application in a section called “carnet” (notebook).

Each country will develop their own digital systems of storing these certificates.

The certificates are also available in paper format.

They will be available around the EU in the person’s national language and English.
