Laure Gorand and Carla Macari had been missing since the beginning of February, with police deeming their disappearance as “worrying” since Monday February 4.
The girls were seen at school - the La Favorite lycée in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon - the morning of February 4, but disappeared and stopped giving “any signs of life” since around 15h the same day.
Police launched a witness appeal, circulating photos of the two girls, and saying: “Nothing makes us think that this could be a runaway case."
Yet, it appears that the two young girls had in fact deliberately run away.
They were found on Sunday night in the Part-Dieu neighborhood of the city, police have confirmed.
Both were deemed “safe and well” and returned to their respective parents soon after they were found.
