Income tax declaration dates are released

Deadlines for paper and online tax declarations announced

This year’s French income tax declaration deadlines have been released. The deadlines vary according to whether you declare by paper form/s or online. Online declarations then have different deadline dates depending on where you live in France.

Please note: Anyone who declared last year and whose 2015 revenu fiscal de référence (net taxable income, as shown on the income tax assessment) was more than €28,000 is now required to make their declaration online (unless they have no internet access).

The online declaration service opens on Wednesday April 12 at impots.gouv.fr and paper forms will be arriving / available at around the same time.

The deadlines for online declarations for residents of France are:

  • Departments 01-19 – Midnight Tuesday May 23
  • Departments 20-49 – Midnight Tuesday May 30
  • Departments 50-974/976 – Midnight June 6

The deadline for paper declarations is the same regardless of which department you live in and is midnight May 17.

As in 2016, non-residents making a paper declaration must also do so by the same date as residents of France - May 17. This year, non-residents declaring online must do so by the same deadline as the first group of French departments, that is May 23. This is earlier than last year, when the deadline was aligned with the last group of departments.
