Reader question: What transport can I use to travel between France and the UK?

Eurotunnel is running passenger trains with one departure an hour throughout the day, with a decrease in departures overnight. It says it is open to anyone who is authorised to travel.

Air France and British Airways are flying every two or three days between Paris Charles de Gaulle airport and London. Several airports in France are closed to commercial traffic so check with your local airport.

A British Airways spokesperson told Connexion: “This is a fast moving situation, and we recommend all customers check for the latest on their flight on ba.com.”

EasyJet has all its flights grounded and only 10% of Ryanair flights are in operation, but none to France.

P&O Ferries are still running Calais to Dover and Zeebrugge to Hull ferries for essential travel for members of the public and for freight, but are only accepting passengers in cars and say they will not accept foot passengers up to April 30.

DFDS Ferries have a normal schedule for freight and crossings for the public for essential travel on their Dover-Calais, Dover-Dunkirk and Newhaven-Dieppe crossings. See: https://tinyurl.com/y8mfn43z

Brittany Ferries have suspended all operations.

Trains within both countries are still running. SNCF has a greatly reduced service operating mainly between main cities and you can find details of next day’s trains from 17h the previous day at sncf.com

Car hire companies are still operating though not all hire centres are open. Find details on individual websites.
