Tagger caused €0.5m damage

A 23-YEAR-OLD has admitted causing around half a million euros of damage to trains by spraying graffiti on them.

The man, who was raided by police at home in Seine-et-Marne, has been accused of some 2,000 incidents of spraying “tags” on trains or otherwise vandalising them, such as by scratching graffiti on glass.

Investigators found 80 spray paint cans at his home as well as material like sandpaper for scratching windows and a memory stick with pictures of graffiti tags saved on it.

The man has admitted the facts.

The SNCF had complained to the Paris Préfecture de Police over damage to its trains between May 2011 and April 2012, estimated at €562,000.

Transport police investigators discovered that a signature seen on the graffiti, OREAK, was associated with the ASC “crew” (gang), known to have been responsible for many previous acts of vandalism.

The suspect had previously been connected with graffiti in the Metro in 2007.
