How homeowners successfully challenged French property tax rise
We explain how to spot incorrect assumptions on your taxe foncière bill
Do I meet ‘modest’ income rule?
I have learned that householders do not have to pay taxe foncière after 75 and can be entitled to a reduction after the age of 65 if their income is “modest”.
I am 77 and a homeowner since 2002 and my annual income is around €14,000, which I would consider “modest”, but I have never benefited. Might I be entitled to refunds? T.G.
It seems you are not eligible for the reduction or exemption as the Code Général des Impôts sets a required modest income limit (for both of these) for 2019’s taxe foncière at €10,988 for 2018 income for a single person and your income is over this (it was €10,815 for 2017).
