Can we play golf from May 11 in France?
Reader question: As you can walk, run or cycle from May 11 can you play golf as it is possible to do so and keep social distancing?
The Fédération Française de Golf has issued a statement saying it believes golf clubs will be able to open after May 11.
Prime Minister Edouard Philippe made it clear in his speech to parliament on April 28 outlining deconfinement plan, that people will be able to do individual sports.
They will have to respect health barrier regulations but will be able to go further than the present imposed 1km radius from their home.
The statement on the federation’s website welcomes the Prime Minister’s announcement and says its members are now in contact with the authorities to work out exactly what measures golf clubs must put in place to be able to open: “We will have to be patient for a few days more before we will be able to play golf again,” it says but it is optimistic and says it will give more details as soon as it receives more information.
