Missing Megan found safe

Police arrest her maths teacher after couple recognised strolling hand-in-hand in Bordeaux

MISSING schoolgirl Megan Stammers has been found "safe and well" in Bordeaux with maths teacher, Jeremy Forrest.

Police said that Forrest, 30, and 15-year-old Megan had been recognised in the shopping area of the city and then picked up around 13.15 while walking along "hand in hand".

They had received information from a number of people about the couple and said they had been recognised due to coverage of the case in French media.

Forrest has now been arrested and Megan is in the Bordeaux commissariat under social care waiting for word from her family. Officers from Sussex Police are said to be on their way to Bordeaux.

A European arrest warrant had been out for Forrest, who is accused of child abduction, since the couple were spotted on CCTV cameras on a Dover-Calais ferry last Thursday.
