Sweet thieves get Kinder surprise

Criminal gang had eaten a dozen chocolate eggs when they were arrested - 25 minutes after theft took place

A GANG of thieves were arrested less than half an hour after making off with their ill-gotten haul of 48 Kinder Surprise eggs.

Shortly after 10am on Saturday, a truck with Parisian registration plates stopped outside a bakery in Béhagnies, Pas-de-Calais.

According to local newspaper La Voix du Nord, police said “two of them entered the store and took a Kinder display stand.”

But a witness noted the getaway vehicle’s registration. Police were informed and, 25 minutes later, stopped the vehicle in nearby Vimy.

By the time they were arrested, the chocoholic criminals had eaten 12 of the eggs.

Rather than face a criminal prosecution, the five - three of whom it is reported are known to police - have been ordered to pay damages to the shop owner.
